What Is Ceramic Coating?
IDEA INDUCTION LLC offers an option for your induction coils to be coated in an insulative ceramic material (0.01-0.02” thick). This material provides an electrical insulation barrier (with very good wear properties) between the induction coil and your work piece. Ceramic coating adds approximately 1 week to the lead time on all coils.
Alternatively, muscovite or phlogopite mica sheets can be used for electrical insulation and is typically affixed to the coil with fiberglass tape. Usually, these mica sheets are added by operators in the field prior to coil usage and changed regularly as they wear.
If your induction coil does not make contact with the work piece in your process, you may be able to forego the electrical insulation barrier. If you have questions regarding ceramic coating or are unsure if it is required, please contact us.
